Halloween is now over, but it was a time for good creative fun. Sue made this very cute Pumpkin Hat for her granddaughter to wear with her costume.

Putting Elizabeth in the high chair with an ice cream cone was the only way she could keep her still long enough to get a picture.
The hat used regular Dresden Plate segments all in orange. Keeping a hole open in the center, made it easy to stick a ponytail through.
She was such a cutie- hope everyone had as much fun as Elizabeth on Halloween !

Knight & Dragons

Here are plans of my first quilt for QUILTED CUPCAKE PROJECT NIGHT NIGHT

I used an old doll pattern for my knight and asked my daughter to draw the costume.

He needs to hold a sword, don't you agree? Even if they are friendly dragons!

Now off to the sewing room to turn it all into applique' and patchwork...

Jean has started a great group project on Flickr called QuiltedCupcake Project Night Night. You can join it and make crib-size quilts to donate to children in need.

Imagine being a child who is sick or away from home and everything familiar. Someone gives you a softie (doll or toy) to love on, a book to read, and a quilt to snuggle under. Wouldn't that make your little world feel safe and warm?

I'm going to make up some quilts to send. A few will be those cheater quilt panels because they are cute and quick to make, I have a few handy! Then I'm gonna make up some out of of my stash: doggies, kitties, - even friendly dragons!!

On my recent visit to my favorite antique mall, I came upon some cute vintage curtains in the bargain section. Even though they are in great shape, I thought about turning part of them into a tote bag like my friend, Jean, did on the quiltedcupcake. blogspot.com. She is a big inspiration for me!
I have been playing around with stencils and created a sign for the laundry room, it just needs some binding and it will be done.

One of my vintage dolls wanted to be my model for the day. I collect old dolls similar to the one that I used to play with as a little girl. I'll show more in future blogs.

The chicken coop is still in progress - but it's so hot outside. I'll craft inside until the heatwave goes away!

Hens and chicks...

I haven't added to this blog for awhile because I've been busy getting my new chicken coop ready. Have you ever seen those neat barns with quilts painted on them? Well, I am going to create a painted quilt square on my new coop! My square will be hens and chicks.

yo-yo place or mine?

There must be a use for all those yo-yo's I've been making. Maggie loves to lay her head on them whenever I put them on the floor.

I saw a cute picture in Better Homes and Garden's book, Treasury of Christmas. A little girl had a blanket made of yo-yo's. Right then and there I decide that I would make one, too. It sure does take a lot of them to even cover a pillow sham. They are my favorite "take along" project. I've been making them while I wait or have to ride in the car with someone.

I spent the afternoon ironing all my treasures that I bought at the Antique Mall. When I laundered them, I got to thinking of the past. In fact, I put on 40's music lit some candles and stood at the ironing board in my bare feet. Just running the iron over the fabric and looking at the wonderful stitches, I could imagine the women who created these items for their home. Did they ever think that their lovely scarves and doilies would be used by someone else? Don't worry, Ladies, I'll treasure these as if my own Grandmother made them!

watermelon slices...

Working on some placemats for my picnic basket. I made up some slices to put on the small ant fabric. I will assemble them after I figure out how I want the edges to look. Maybe some prairie points? or plain ol' binding?

PICNIC BASKET

July is our time for the family reunion.I need to drag out the picnic basket that Mom gave me about 15 years ago. A cute ant print on red gingham fabric has been put aside to make a cover, lining and some accessories. Can I make them in two weeks? YOU BETCHA!! Easy since the fabriic is all cut out.(from years before) Lately, I found some watermelon fabic to make some picnic mats.

SUMMER DAZE

This week has been so nice and comfortable. It's great to sit out on the porch and have my morning coffee. July 4th is on Sunday, time for cookouts and a canoe trip down the river!
